Hours of Operation - Saturdays 8:30 AM – 4:20 PM, only
  • Residents Only !!
  • You must display the current Town of Goshen Permit/Sticker on your vehicle.
  • Please follow transfer station rules and signs

Location - The transfer station is located at the bottom of WIng Hill Road off East St;

Last year Goshen residents recycled over 116 tons of material saving the Town over $8158 in disposal fees!!!

Refuse Disposal & Recycling Permit/Sticker
  • Primary Sticker at Town Hall = $20.00
  • Additional Sticker = $2.00
  • All-Seasonal Residents Sticker = $10.00 including Seniors
  • Year Round Senior Citzen Sticker = $5.00 62 years or older

You may purchase your transfer station permit on Saturdays at the transfer station on Wing Hill Road or from the Goshen Board of Health on the First Monday night of every month.

Per Bag Fee – The Town of Goshen uses a pay-per-bag system for household waste disposal in which coupons are used for each bag of trash disposed.
  • Coupons are sold in Books of 10 only!!!
  • One Coupon for 30 Gallons of trash = $2.00/bag ($20.00 per booklet of 10 Coupons)
  • One Coupon for 30 Gallons of trash for senior citizens = $1.33/bag ($20.00 per booklet of 15 Coupons
  • The coupons are sold in books of 10 only and are available at the transfer station from the attendant during the regular Saturday operating schedule or from the Goshen Board of Health on the first Monday night of every month.
  • For your convenience, coupons are also available at the Goshen General Store after 1:00 PM on Saturdays and during regular store hours on all other days.

Charge for Demolition & Large Item Disposal The large demolition box is for items which are made from materials other than metal and are too large for the trask truck. These items include:
  • pickup truck loads of mixed materials
  • mattresses and box springs
  • shingles
  • empty spackle buckets
  • wood, lumber, plywood, chipboard and sheetrock
  • desks, chairs and couches
  • rugs
  • vacuum cleaners
  • toilets & sinks
  • plastic toys etc.
  • other small appliances made of plastic & metals.
There is a fee for every item placed into the demolition box. Common items are priced as follows:
  • Mattresses & Box Springs - $25.00 each
  • Couches (2 or more seats) - $10.00
  • Couches (3 or more seats) - $15.00
  • Stuffed chairs - $10.00
  • Misc large items (rugs, tables etc) - $10.00
  • Wooden or plastic chairs - $5.00
  • Plastic vacuum cleaners - $5.00
  • Misc. smaller items (rugs, small tables etc) - $5.00
  • Misc. Toilet, Sinks, Tubs etc. - $15.00
  • Other small items - fee determijed by attendant.
Pickup truck loads
  • Full size: 1/2 full or more - $75.00
  • Full size: less than 1/2 full - $50.00
  • Compact size: 1/2 full or more - $50.00
  • Compact size: less than 1/2 full- $30.00
  • Station wagon / full car load - $30.00
For all loads attendant will appraise load size and may add a surcharge for over-full loads.

Tire Disposal Fees
  • Passenger = $5.00
  • Passenger with Rim = $10.00
  • Truck Tire (over 16 inches) = $10.00
  • Truck Tire with Rim = $20.00

Charge for Metal Recycling
Specific types of metal items are accepted including; wood stoves, sheet metal and other larger bulky metal items (no wood attached). 5 and 55 gallon metal drums are accepted only if FLATTENED! Refrigerators, air conditioners, washing machines or dryers are accepted at site only if freon has been removed and has tag stating so. The items in the bulk metal box must be metal or all metal appliances including:
  • washing machines - please remove oil from the gear box
  • dryers, stoves, woodstoves
  • lawn mowers, chainsaws, weed whackers - remove oil and gas
  • bicycles
  • snowblowers - remove oil and gas
  • water tanks
  • microwaves, toasters oveens and toasters
  • other all-metal appliances.
  • airconditioners & refrigerators - will be accepted only if freon has been removed and the unit is properly tagged.
Large metal item recycling fees
  • Washing Machines, dryers and Stoves - $15.00
  • Hot water tanks - $15.00
  • wood stoves, bulky items or equivalent - $10.00
  • microwaves - $5.00
  • Toaster ovens - $3.00
  • metal vacuum cleaners - $5.00
  • bikes - $5.00
  • gas grills and stove pipes - $5.00 (please remove wood/charcoal)
  • lawn mowers - $10.00
  • snow blowers - $15.00
  • Metal tables and Larger metal items - $15.00
  • Other small metal items - fee to be determined by the attendant
  • Propane Gas grill tanks - $5.00

    No containers which hold hazardous waste including full or partially full containers of paint, oil, anti-freeze, gas, pool chemicals, yard chemicals etc are allowed in the open top boxes. Small empty hazardous waste containers such as oil, anti-freeze, autocare products etc may go into the truck compactor with the regular household trash.


Paint Recycling (No Charge) – Please bring your half full cans of latex paint, stain, or oil based paint to the transfer station between May 15 and October 15 where they will be collected swapped or recycled.

Compost Bins – Compost bins are available for sale at the transfer station. The bins now cost $25.00 a piece and are made of 50% recycled plastic. Note:Blue Recycling Bins for recycling are also available at the site for $3.00 a piece, blue bins are made from 100% recycled plastic.

Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) – Through Hilltown Resource Management Cooperative the Town of Goshen participates in a regional HHW collection every fall (On or about October 15). Residents must preregister with the HRMC and are allowed to drop off one blue box of HHW(Oven cleaners, photo chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, automotive chemicals, paint thinners, etc.,) at the regional collection site.

Electronics Recycling(Computers and Televisions) – Computer monitors, computer CPU’s, and other computer components and television sets will be collected at the transfer station for a small fee:
  • Computer Screens & Printers & CPU’s = $5.00
  • Regular Size Television Sets = $5.00
  • Consoles or Large Screen Television Sets = $20.00


Miscellaneous Items and Rules
  • No dumping of brush or leaves allowed
  • For larger loads or pick up truck size loads at other times during the year contact local trash hauler, the City of Northampton Board of Health at 587-1284 or call the Hilltown Resource Management Cooperative, (413)268-3845 for more information
  • Propane tanks, grill size only = $5.00 per tank
  • small propane tanks no charge (must be empty)
  • Salvation Army Box (Free) – Available at site for clothes etc.
  • We now also recycle household batteries hearing aid, watch type, rechargeable ones only need be recycle
  • We now also recycle fluorescent light tube bulbs as well

Household Recycling There is no charge for recycling these items !
  • Paper Products
  • Newspapers, Magazines & Circulars
  • Corrugated Cardboard
  • Brown Paper Bags
  • Paperboard Boxes
  • Office, Computer and Colored paper
  • Phone Books (No Covers)
  • All Junk Mail and Envelopes

  • No Pizza Boxes, Egg Cartons or Waxed Cardboard
These products can be mixed together. Please flatten all boxes and paper. Please put them in the properly marked container.
  • No window glass, aerosol cans, light bulbs, ceramics, plastic bags or styrofoam !
  • Tin Cans (soup , cat food, etc.)
  • Aluminum Cans and clean Foil
  • All Green, Clear and Brown Glass Jars and Bottles
  • Milk Cartons and Juice Packs
  • All Plastic Containers (#1 - #7 - includes juice, soap, water, milk, etc.)
  • These products can be mixed together.
  • Please rinse all containers.
  • Please flatten all your cans, plastic bottles, and milk cartons.
  • Please put them in the properly marked container.
  • Flattening helps the Town save money !
  • Recycling is mandatory and you must have a valid Town vehicle permit to use the recycling services.
